How do you compare prices on Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra?

To compare prices fairly, first confirm every listing is the same exact product: brand, model, variant, colour and size. Then work out each one's effective price: the price plus delivery, minus only the offers you really qualify for. Compare those totals, and check the seller.

Price comparison India searches usually end at the cheapest-looking number. That number is rarely the cheapest thing you pay. This guide gives a method you can repeat on any store, with a worked example in rupees.

What does a fair comparison need?

Three things to match before you compare a price
Match thisWhy it mattersHow to check
The exact productA different storage size, colour or pack can carry a different price and still look identicalCompare model number, variant and size line by line
The effective priceDelivery fees and offers change what leaves your accountGo to the checkout page and read the payable total
The seller and termsThe same product can be sold by different sellers with different return and warranty termsRead the seller name and the return and warranty lines on each listing

A headline price is only one input. Our guide to the real price of a product in India explains the effective price in more detail, and MRP versus selling price explains why the crossed-out number is the wrong yardstick.

How do I match the exact product?

This is the step people skip, and it breaks the whole comparison. Two listings with the same photo can be different products.

  • Model name or number. Use the full name, not "Series 5" or "Pro". A model number, where one is printed, is the safest match.
  • Variant. Storage, RAM, size, colour and pack count each change the price.
  • Seller. Note who sells it. Your price may depend on the seller, and so may the return and warranty terms.
  • Condition. Check that none of the listings is renewed, refurbished or open-box, unless all of them are.

For fashion on Myntra, match the brand, style name, colour and your size. If a style is only on one store, there is nothing fair to compare, and that is fine to accept.

What goes into the effective price?

Use the checkout page, not the listing page. Start with the selling price, add what you will really pay on top, and subtract only what you really qualify for.

  1. Selling price shown for your exact variant.
  2. Plus delivery, handling or other fees, if any appear at checkout.
  3. Minus coupons you can apply.
  4. Minus bank or card offers only if you hold that card, meet the minimum spend and the offer is live. Read its terms on the store.
  5. Result: the effective price you can compare.

Returns and warranty do not change the number, but they change its value. We do not describe any marketplace's return or warranty rules here, because they vary by seller and product. Read them on each listing and on the store's own help pages before you buy.

What do Google's tools do, and what don't they do?

Google's help pages describe two relevant features, and both have limits.

What two Google features do, from Google's own help pages
FeatureWhat Google saysLimit to keep in mind
Price trackingAvailable in the US, Canada, Australia, Japan and India. You can set an optional target price and get a push notification and an email when the price drops below it.You need to be signed in with notifications on, and Google says prices are dynamic and subject to change.
Price insightsShow whether a price is low, typical or high, and how it changed in recent months, using pricing data from sellers across the web.Google lists the feature for the US only, and says it does not predict how a price may change.

So in India, Google's verified role is tracking a price you choose against a target. We did not find an official Google page promising a side-by-side comparison of your exact variant across Amazon India, Flipkart and Myntra, so we do not claim one. For how history graphs and these features work, read how to check price history on Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra.

What are the 7 steps to compare prices?

  1. Pick the exact product. Write down brand, model, variant, colour and size.
  2. Find it on each store. Open the listing for that exact variant on Amazon India, Flipkart and, for fashion, Myntra.
  3. Note the seller and whether it is a new, unopened item.
  4. Record the selling price and the date and time.
  5. Add delivery and fees shown at checkout.
  6. Subtract only offers you qualify for, after reading their terms.
  7. Compare the totals, then glance at recent price movement and the return and warranty lines before you decide.

Save a screenshot at step 4 and step 7. If the price changes before you pay, you will know by how much.

What does a worked example look like?

The numbers below are illustrative, not a real product or a real sale. They show a pair of sneakers of one model, size and colour, listed on three stores.

Listing A: first store (illustrative)
Selling price₹3,999
Delivery₹0
Coupon you can apply-₹200
Effective price₹3,799
Listing B: second store (illustrative)
Selling price₹3,799
Delivery₹79
Offers you qualify for₹0
Effective price₹3,878
Listing C: third store (illustrative)
Selling price₹3,899
Delivery₹0
Card offer you qualify for-₹150
Effective price₹3,749

Listing B has the lowest headline price at ₹3,799. After ₹79 of delivery and no offer, it costs ₹3,878, which is the highest total. Listing C has the middle headline price, but ₹3,749 once its card offer applies. That is ₹129 (about 3.3%) below B and ₹50 below A. If you did not hold the card, C would cost ₹3,899 and A would be cheapest. The winner depends on you, not only on the stores.

What are the limits of price comparison?

  • A comparison is a snapshot. Prices can change within the day. A cheap price today can still be above last month's, as is that discount real and was the price raised before the sale explain.
  • Not every product is on every store. Many items are sold in one place only.
  • Offers are personal. Your cards, your minimum spend and your delivery pin code decide what you pay.
  • Cheapest is not the only goal. A slightly higher price from a seller with clearer terms can be the better buy.
  • Tools differ. If you use a comparison site or extension, check what it covers and what it leaves out. The seven checks in our price tracker guide apply.

What are the common mistakes?

  • Comparing similar items, not the same one. A near match is a different product with a different price.
  • Trusting the percentage badge. A badge compares a price with a reference number, usually the MRP. It says nothing about the other store.
  • Counting an offer you do not qualify for. Card offers need the card, the minimum spend and a live offer.
  • Forgetting delivery. A free-delivery listing and a paid-delivery one are not level until you add the fee.
  • Ignoring the seller. The same product can come from different sellers, with different return and warranty terms.
  • Checking only once. Look again before you pay, because the price may have moved since your first note.

When is the lowest price not the right one?

Sometimes the cheapest total is still not the best buy. If two listings differ by a small amount, the seller, the return window and the warranty may matter more than the gap. Read those lines on each listing, and on the store's own help page if the listing is unclear. If you are not in a hurry, set a target price with a tracker and let the price come to you. If you are buying a gift or something you need this week, a small premium for clearer terms or faster delivery can be a reasonable choice. The point of the method is to make that choice with the numbers in front of you, not to chase the lowest figure at any cost.

Where will HAULS fit?

HAULS is pre-launch. The browser extension has not launched, and nothing on this page is HAULS data. When it launches, Cross-Store Compare is planned to match the brand, model, variant and size first, and to show a comparison only when it is confident two listings are the same product. We will publish how in a methodology page.

HAULS has a commercial interest in this topic and we would rather say so. You can read what is planned on the Cross-Store Compare, price history and Buy or Wait pages, or see the store pages for the Amazon price tracker, Flipkart price tracker and Myntra price tracker. More explainers are in our guides. If you want to hear when the extension ships, join the waitlist.

How this page was checked

Last verified: 8 October 2026. The statements about Google price tracking and price insights come from the two official Google help pages listed in the sources. The example is illustrative, with arithmetic checked by script. We did not describe any marketplace's return, warranty or seller policy because we did not verify one. If something here is wrong or out of date, tell us through the about page and we will correct it.

Frequently asked questions

How to compare prices on Amazon and Flipkart?

Open the same model, variant and colour on both, and note the price, any offer you qualify for, delivery cost and seller. Add them up to an effective price for each. Compare those totals, not the headline prices or the percentage-off badges.

What is the best price comparison website in India?

We cannot name one, and we have not tested any for this article. Judge a site by the stores it covers, how fresh its prices are, whether it matches exact variants, and how it earns money. Then confirm the price on the store itself.

How do I find the lowest price for a product online?

Check the same exact product on several stores, then compare the total you would pay at checkout. Also look at how the price has moved recently, because today's lowest price can still be higher than last month's.

Is the cheapest listing always the best price?

No. A lower headline price can lose once delivery, offers you do not qualify for, or a different seller are counted. Compare the total payable for the same product, and weigh return terms and warranty before choosing on price alone.

Does Google compare prices in India?

Google says its price tracking is available in India, and you can set an optional target price. Its price insights, which label a price low, typical or high, are listed for the US only. Coverage and features change, so check your own account.

How do I know it is the same product on two stores?

Match the brand, exact model name or number, variant such as storage or size, colour, and pack quantity. If a listing is vague on any of these, treat it as a different product until the seller's description or box details confirm it.

Should I compare Myntra with Amazon and Flipkart?

Yes, if the same branded item, size and colour is sold on all three. Fashion listings often differ by size and colour, so compare the exact variant. If an item is sold on only one store, there is nothing fair to compare.

How do bank offers change the price comparison?

They can lower your payable amount, but only if you hold the card, meet the minimum spend and the offer is still live. Count an offer only if you qualify, and read its terms on the store before relying on it.

What is the effective price?

In this guide it is the total you pay after the discount, any offer you truly qualify for, and delivery or other fees. It is not an official term. It is a practical way to compare listings on equal footing.

Do price comparison tools show the final price?

Not always. Some show the listed price only, and may leave out delivery, card offers or coupons. Check what a tool says it includes, and confirm the final payable amount on the store before you pay.
