What does a Flipkart 'lowest price since launch' badge mean?

Short answer

Read literally, it claims this item has not sold for less since it first launched. We could not find Flipkart's own definition of it, so we cannot say which seller, variant or dates it counts. Treat it as a reason to check the price, not as proof that the price is the lowest.

That is the whole point of this page. A badge such as "Lowest price since launch" or "Lowest price" sounds like a record you can see. In practice you are shown the conclusion and not the data behind it.

Below we cover what we could and could not find from Flipkart, what such a claim can and cannot prove, a 10-minute check, the tools that can help, and a worked rupee example. The example is made up. This is a different job from Flipkart sale labels explained, which covers event tags such as Price Crash and Tick Tock Deals. Here the subject is the "lowest price" family of claims.

What does Flipkart itself say about these badges?

We could not find Flipkart's own definition of "Lowest price since launch", "Lowest price" or "Lowest price of the year". On 20 October 2026 we tried Flipkart's Big Billion Days store page and its pricing-policy page. Neither returned readable text, so we cannot quote either one. We found no help article for these phrases.

What we do have is older. Flipkart's Big Billion Days page, which we read on 8 October 2026 for our earlier post, described Price Crash as something that resets selected items to "Day 0 prices" for one hour. It did not define Day 0 or say anything about a lowest price. We found nothing on a "Hot Deal" label either, so we do not explain it.

So the honest position is: the wording exists on listings that shoppers see, but the rule behind it is not published anywhere we could read. Flipkart may well explain it in the app or in a page we missed. If you find the definition, it overrides this post.

What can a 'lowest price' claim prove, and what can't it?

At best it tells you one thing: some comparison inside Flipkart's own records found no lower price in the period it used. It cannot tell you which period that was, whether other stores charge less, or whether the price is a bargain. A claim you cannot inspect is a pointer, not evidence.

Questions the badge leaves open
Open questionWhy it mattersHow you can answer it
Which dates were counted?'Since launch' may cover a few weeks or several years. 'Of the year' may cover less than a year.A price-history view or your own dated log
Which variant?A 128 GB and a 256 GB model have different prices. A colour can too.Open the exact variant and compare only that
Which seller?Another seller may list the same item for less, and a listing may have changed sellers.Check the other sellers shown on the listing
What is the 'launch' price? It may be the first selling price, not the MRP. Do not read it as a discount from the MRP.Compare with [MRP vs selling price](/blog/mrp-vs-selling-price) logic, not the badge
Is it the lowest anywhere?A badge speaks for one store at most.Compare the same variant on Amazon and other sellers
Does it include offers?Bank offers and coupons change what you pay but are not always part of the listed price.Count them separately at checkout

None of these is an accusation. A true "lowest since launch" can still be a short, narrow or store-only fact.

Is the 'launch price' the same as the MRP?

No, not necessarily. The MRP is the maximum retail price printed on the pack. The launch price is whatever the item first sold for, and that can sit below the MRP. A "since launch" claim therefore says nothing about the percentage off the MRP.

This matters because a listing often shows both a badge and a crossed-out price. The two answer different questions. The badge says something about time. The crossed-out price is a reference point for the percent-off figure. For how reference prices work, see is that discount real?.

One more catch: a product that has been relisted, bundled or sold by a new seller may start a fresh record. Whether that resets any badge, we could not confirm.

Why can the same price be 'lowest' and still not cheap?

A price can be the lowest on a record and still be high. If the item was launched at a high price and has fallen slowly, the lowest price so far may still be above what other stores charge. "Lowest since launch" compares the item with itself, not with the market.

Another store or seller can undercut the badge, which is why the Amazon check below matters.

How do you verify a lowest-price badge in 10 minutes?

Pin down the exact item, record today's price, then compare the same variant across sellers and against Amazon. If another place charges less, or an earlier price you can see was lower, the badge told you little. It takes about ten minutes and needs only a phone.

  1. Name the exact item. Write down model, storage or size, colour and seller. (1 minute)
  2. Screenshot the listing with the date and time visible. Include the price, the crossed-out price and the badge. (1 minute)
  3. Open the other sellers shown on the listing and note the price for the same variant. (2 minutes)
  4. Search Amazon for the same variant. Match model and storage, not just the name. Note the price and the seller. (2 minutes)
  5. Look at any price history you can reach. Amazon India has an in-app price history view with 30 and 90 day windows, reported by Business Today in November 2025, though features change. Chrome's Shopping insights and the tools below may also help. (3 minutes)
  6. Add the checkout cost. Delivery, coupons and bank offers change the final amount. (1 minute)

If you do this for an item you may buy later, keep the screenshot. A dated record helps next time, and the 30-day habit in how to check price history on Flipkart turns one check into a record.

For a check built around the run-up to an event, use was the price raised before the sale?. For how much history is enough, see how far back to check price history.

Which tools show a longer history, and what are their limits?

Google's price insights, Chrome's Shopping insights and some third-party tools show earlier prices. All of them show only what they recorded, so each has a start date and gaps. Use them as a second opinion on the badge, and note when each one began watching.

What each source says about itself, read on 20 Oct 2026. Untested by us.
SourceWhat it says it offersLimit to keep in mind
Chrome Shopping insightsGoogle says it can show a product's price history and range if you are signed in, sync tabs and history, and turn on 'Make searches and browsing better'May not cover every Flipkart listing or seller
Google price insightsSays whether a price is low, typical or highGoogle's help page describes it as available in the US, so India users may not see it. It says it does not predict future prices
PriceBefore (vendor claim)Says it records what products cost on Amazon.in, Flipkart and other Indian stores and charts each listing; free, alerts need a free accountIt shows days it recorded. We have not tested it
BuyHatke (vendor claim)Says it tracks price history for Amazon, Flipkart and more through an extension and appVendor claim, untested. It reads shopping pages, so check its permissions
Amazon India price historyBusiness Today reports a 30 or 90 day view with price highs and lowsCovers Amazon listings, not Flipkart

None of these can see inside Flipkart's own records, so none can confirm or disprove a "since launch" claim. At most they show whether a lower price appeared in the window they watched. For a wider view of tools, see our price tracker comparison. Check what any extension asks to access first.

What does a worked example look like in rupees?

The figures below are made up for illustration. They are not from a real listing, and no real product, seller or price is meant.

Illustrative example, not a real listing
Launch price (first selling price)₹19,999
Price shown today, badge reads 'Lowest price since launch'₹17,499
Typical price in your log, last 30 days₹17,999
Same variant, another Flipkart seller₹17,299
Same variant on Amazon₹17,399

Work out four gaps from those five prices:

  • Against the launch price: (19,999 − 17,499) ÷ 19,999 = ₹2,500, about 12.5% lower. This is what the badge is pointing at.
  • Against your 30-day typical price: (17,999 − 17,499) ÷ 17,999 = ₹500, about 2.8% lower.
  • Against the other seller: 17,499 − 17,299 = ₹200 more than the cheaper seller, about 1.1%.
  • Against Amazon: 17,499 − 17,399 = ₹100 more, about 0.6%.

In this made-up case the badge could be literally true, and the item is still not the cheapest. The saving you can verify is ₹500 against recent weeks, not ₹2,500. The cheapest place in the list is the other seller, ₹200 below the badged price.

Whether ₹200 is worth the trouble depends on delivery, returns and the seller, which the badge never mentions.

What if the badge is on a brand-new product?

A new product has a short past, so "lowest since launch" can be true by default. If an item launched a few days ago, any price drop makes it the lowest so far. That is a weak signal, because there is little history to beat.

For a new launch, give the check a little more weight on the market side: compare the same variant on Amazon and other sellers, and ask whether you need it now. If you can wait, a log started today will tell you more in a month than a badge does today.

Flipkart 'lowest price' badge sach hai ya nahi?

Iska jawab hum pakka nahi de sakte, kyunki badge ka rule humein Flipkart par nahi mila. "Lowest price since launch" ek claim hai, aur woh sach bhi ho sakta hai. Par usme seller, variant aur dates nahi dikhte, isliye sirf badge dekh kar khareedna sahi nahi.

Aasan tarika: same variant ko doosre sellers aur Amazon par dekhiye, screenshot rakhiye, aur 30 din ka apna price log banaiye. Agar kahin kam price mile ya pehle ka price kam tha, to badge se zyada madad nahi milti. Checkout par offers alag se gino.

A checklist before you trust a lowest-price badge

  • [ ] I know the exact model, variant and colour.
  • [ ] I have a dated screenshot of today's price and badge.
  • [ ] I checked other sellers for the same variant.
  • [ ] I checked Amazon for the same variant.
  • [ ] I looked at some price history, and I know when it started.
  • [ ] I compared with the typical price from recent weeks, not the MRP.
  • [ ] I added delivery, coupons and bank offers.
  • [ ] I decided on need first. A small real saving on something I do not need is still spending.

What are the honest limits of this check?

  • We could not read Flipkart's rule. Everything here about the badge is about what it can and cannot prove, not about how it is made.
  • A longer record may not exist. A new listing, relisting or new seller may have no earlier days to see.
  • Tools show what they saw. A short dip can be missed.
  • Prices vary by person and place. Your app may show a different price or badge from someone else's.
  • We give no legal view on whether a price claim is misleading. That is for the regulator.

Where will HAULS fit?

HAULS is not publicly available yet, so it checks nothing for you today. When released, it is meant to compare a price with the prices it has itself observed, and to mark a price it has not watched as unknown. Until then, the 10-minute check above works without it. HAULS has a commercial interest in this topic, and we would rather say so. See the Flipkart price tracker page for the store view, or join the waitlist.

How this page was checked

Last verified: 20 October 2026. Flipkart's store and pricing-policy pages could not be read that day, so no Flipkart wording is quoted except the Price Crash text from our 8 October reading. The Business Today, Chrome Help, Google Help, PriceBefore and BuyHatke pages were read on 20 October and vendor statements are reported as their claims. We have not tested any tool. The rupee example is illustrative and its arithmetic was recomputed. If anything here is out of date, tell us through the about page and we will correct it.

Frequently asked questions

What does 'lowest price since launch' mean on Flipkart?

We could not find Flipkart's own definition. Read literally, it says the price is the lowest the item has had since it first went on sale. It does not say which seller, which variant or which dates were counted, so treat it as a claim to test, not a record.

Is 'lowest price since launch' the same as the lowest price ever?

Literally close, since both point to the whole life of the listing. But we could not confirm how Flipkart builds either claim, and a new listing, variant or seller can reset the history. Check the window yourself against a price record before relying on it.

What does 'lowest price of the year' mean on Flipkart?

We found no Flipkart page that defines it. The plain reading is that no lower price appeared in the current calendar year or the last 12 months, but the year chosen, the seller and the variant are unstated. A 30 to 90 day record is easier to verify.

What does the price drop badge on Flipkart mean?

We could not find a Flipkart definition for a generic price-drop badge. It most plausibly means the price fell from an earlier one, but which earlier price is unknown. It is not the same as a percent-off figure, which usually compares with a crossed-out price.

Is a 'Lowest price' badge on Flipkart always true?

We cannot say, and this post accuses nobody. We could not read the rule behind the badge, so we cannot confirm it for any listing. A true badge can still cover a short window, one seller or one variant, so confirm with your own comparison.

Is the launch price the same as the MRP?

Not necessarily. The MRP is the maximum retail price printed on the pack. The launch price is what the item first sold for, which can be lower. A phrase like 'since launch' says nothing about the MRP, so do not read it as a discount from the MRP.

How do I check a Flipkart lowest price claim in 10 minutes?

Screenshot the listing with its date, note the exact variant and seller, then look up the same variant under other sellers and on Amazon. Add a price-history view if one covers it. If other places charge less or earlier prices were lower, the badge adds little.

Do price history tools prove a Flipkart price is the lowest?

No. A tool shows only the days it recorded, and its own claims are not Flipkart's. Use one as a second opinion, and note when it started watching the listing. A short history cannot show a low across a whole launch period.

Flipkart par 'lowest price' badge sach hota hai kya?

Badge ka rule humein Flipkart par nahi mila, isliye hum use sach ya jhooth nahi keh sakte. Wo sirf ek claim hai. Same variant aur seller ka price Amazon aur doosre sellers se compare kijiye, aur screenshot rakhiye. Phir hi badge par bharosa kijiye.

Does HAULS check Flipkart lowest price badges today?

No. HAULS is not publicly available yet and has no price data for you today. It is meant to compare a price with prices it has observed once released. Until then, the 10-minute check on this page works without it.
