Should I buy now or wait for the Diwali sale?
Short answer
Buy now if the price is at or near its 30-day low, stock is limited, or you need delivery before Diwali on Sunday 8 November 2026. Wait only if none of those apply and you can live without the item. No store has published a later price, so waiting is a bet, not a plan.
Last checked 20 Oct 2026. This page is a decision framework, not a prediction. It does not know what any product will cost next week, and no source we found does either.
Flipkart's Big Billion Days and Amazon's Great Indian Festival are already running. So the real choice is not "sale or no sale". It is "buy at today's sale price, or hold out for a price that nobody has announced yet". For dates of other sales, see our India sale calendar. We do not repeat it here.
What is confirmed about the sales right now?
Flipkart's own newsroom says the 13th Big Billion Days edition began on 9 October 2026, with early access from 8 October for Plus, BLACK and Flipkart credit card members. The release gives no end dateFlipkart Stories .
Amazon's newsroom says deals went live at 12 a.m. on 8 October 2026, and also gives no end dateAbout Amazon India . Diwali (Lakshmi Puja) falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, per Drik PanchangDrik Panchang .
| Item | What we found | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Flipkart Big Billion Days 2026 | Began 9 October; early access 8 October; no end date | Confirmed by Flipkart (start) |
| Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 | Deals live from 12 a.m., 8 October; no end date | Confirmed by Amazon (start) |
| Separate Flipkart or Amazon Diwali sale | No store announcement found | Expected, not confirmed |
| Myntra festive sale | No Myntra announcement found on Myntra's own pages | Not confirmed |
| Diwali (Lakshmi Puja) | Sunday 8 November 2026 | Almanac date, not a sale date |
A festival date is not a sale date. Each store picks its own.
Which products are worth waiting for?
There is no rule by category that we can source. What we can give is how the risk differs, so you can place your item. Use it with the five questions below.
| Product type | Lean to buy now when | Waiting is less risky when |
|---|---|---|
| Phones and laptops | Price is at its 30-day low and your variant is in stock | Several variants exist, you can take a different colour, and your old phone still works |
| Large appliances (TV, fridge, AC) | You need installation before the festival, or one model is nearly sold out | No deadline, and similar models are available from more than one seller |
| Fashion and footwear | Your size is available and the price matches the last 30 days | Your size is common and you are happy to switch to similar styles |
| Grocery and daily needs | You are about to run out | You can stock up later without running out |
| Gold and jewellery | We could not verify a sale pattern, so we give no lean | Compare invoice price and making charges across jewellers on the day |
| Festival items (lights, gifts, decor) | You need them before Diwali, 8 November | They are for later, such as Bhai Dooj gifts |
Fashion sizes sell out unevenly. Large appliances carry installation dates. Festival items have a hard deadline that no discount can move. That is why those rows lean toward buying.
When is waiting risky?
Waiting loses most often in four situations. Each can be checked in a few minutes.
- Stock is thin. A "few left" message or a missing variant means the choice may disappear. Flipkart says it pre-positioned more than 2.5 crore units of MSME, artisan and weaver products in Ekart fulfilment centresFlipkart Stories . That is about those products, not a stock guarantee for yours.
- The price is already at its 30-day low. A later price can only match or beat it by luck. You hold a known price today.
- Delivery before Diwali matters. Enter your PIN code at checkout and read the delivery date. Flipkart says it has expanded same-day and next-day delivery, but your pin code decides what you see.
- A bank-offer window is open. Offers come with limits, dates and card conditions. Amazon lists a 10% instant discount on SBI credit and debit cards and credit card EMIAbout Amazon India . We cannot tell you whether a later offer will be better, or exist at all.
What do prices usually do after a sale?
It varies. We searched for a reliable source on the usual post-sale price movement in India and did not find one, so we make no claim in either direction. Some items may come back to their earlier price, some may stay lower, some may rise with stock. Any article that states a rule is guessing.
What you can do instead is compare today's price with the product's own recent history. That is the evidence that matters, and the next section shows how.
How do I check the last 30 and 90 days by hand?
Amazon says it shows 30, 90 and 365-day price views to customers in India, with the 365-day view rolling outAbout Amazon . Business Today reported 30 and 90-day views for the first Indian versionBusiness Today . We could not confirm that Flipkart or Myntra show a similar view, so check each app.
If there is no chart, build your own record:
- Note today's price for the exact variant, colour and seller, with the time.
- Look for earlier proof: an order page, a screenshot, a message from a friend.
- Write down the typical price and the lowest you can find for the last 30 days.
- Check the final week on its own. A rise just before a sale shows there. See was the price raised before the sale.
- For seasonal items such as phones, take 90 days if you can. Our guide on how far back to check price history explains why.
Without any earlier record, you cannot test a price. You can only compare stores.
How do I compare the effective price after bank offers?
The effective price is what leaves your account: the selling price, plus delivery, minus only the offers you hold the card for and meet the terms of. "Up to 10%" is a ceiling. A rupee cap can shrink it on an expensive item.
Work in this order. List your cards and memberships. Check which offers on each store apply to them. Then compare totals for the exact same product. Big Billion Days vs Great Indian Festival walks through the two stores' offers in detail, and is Big Billion Days fake or real covers whether the discount itself holds up.
What does a worked example look like?
These numbers are illustrative, not a real product or offer. A phone variant has these prices in your records: typical price over 30 days ₹32,999, lowest ₹31,499. Today's sale price is ₹29,999, with a 10% card offer capped at ₹1,500 on a card you hold.
| Typical price, last 30 days | ₹32,999 |
| Lowest price, last 30 days | ₹31,499 |
| Today's sale price | ₹29,999 |
| Card offer (10%, capped at ₹1,500) | minus ₹1,500 |
| Effective price today | ₹28,499 |
| If you wait and it sells out, next listing at the 30-day low | ₹31,499 |
Here, buying now costs ₹28,499. If the item sells out and you must take the next listing at the 30-day low of ₹31,499, you pay ₹3,000 more. To justify waiting, a later price would need to beat ₹28,499 after offers, and nobody has published one. If the item stays in stock and the later price is ₹27,999 after offers, you would have saved ₹500 by waiting. That is the whole upside. The downside, if it sells out, is ₹3,000.
The point is the shape of the bet, not these numbers. Replace them with your own.
What is the 5-question checklist?
Answer each for your exact item. If you answer "yes" to any of the first four, lean toward buying.
- Is today's price at or near the lowest of the last 30 days?
- Is stock thin, or is your variant or size close to gone?
- Do you need it delivered before Diwali on 8 November?
- Does a bank offer you actually hold apply today, with a cap or date you might miss?
- Can you live without it if nothing cheaper turns up? If the answer is no, waiting has no real upside.
If all four of the first answers are "no" and the fifth is "yes", waiting costs you little. You can set a note to check the price again on a date you choose.
What can nobody tell you?
Nobody can tell you the price on a day that has not happened. Not a deal site, not a store, not this page. We found no store announcement of a separate pre-Diwali sale, and deal-site dates for such sales are estimates from last year's pattern.
Prices also differ by seller, by variant and sometimes by the time of day. A screenshot from a friend is a data point, not a trend. Use the five questions, keep your own record, and decide on what you can verify.
How was this page checked?
Last checked on 20 October 2026. We read Flipkart's newsroom release for Big Billion Days, Amazon India's Great Indian Festival 2026 deals page, Outlook Business's report on Amazon's start date, Drik Panchang's Diwali page, About Amazon's price-history page and Business Today's report on the Indian rollout. We could not confirm a Myntra, Flipkart or Amazon pre-Diwali sale from any store's own page, so we mark those as expected, not confirmed. We have not audited any live deal or product, and we make no claim about particular prices.
HAULS is not publicly available yet. It is being built to show the prices it has itself observed for a product, and nothing on this page depends on it. If a date here is wrong, tell us through the about page and we will correct it.
Frequently asked questions
Should I buy now or wait for the Diwali sale 2026?
Buy now if the price is at or near its 30-day low, stock is limited, or you need delivery before Diwali on 8 November 2026. Wait only if none of those apply and you can live without the item. No source we found promises that a later sale will be cheaper.
Is the Diwali sale 2026 worth waiting for?
We could not confirm it. Flipkart and Amazon are already running their festive sales, and we found no store announcement of a separate pre-Diwali sale. Waiting is a bet on a price nobody has published. It pays off only if the later price is actually lower.
Is it better to buy during Big Billion Days or the Diwali sale?
Neither name decides it. Big Billion Days began on 9 October 2026 and the Great Indian Festival on 8 October. What matters is the exact product's total price after offers you qualify for, compared with its last 30 days. Check that before paying.
What is the Flipkart Diwali sale 2026 date?
We could not confirm a separate Flipkart Diwali sale date. Flipkart's own newsroom says Big Billion Days began on 9 October 2026 and gives no end date. Diwali itself is Sunday 8 November 2026. Treat any other Flipkart date as expected, not confirmed.
What is the Amazon Diwali sale 2026 date?
Amazon's newsroom says its Great Indian Festival deals went live at 12 a.m. on 8 October 2026. We found no end date and no separate Diwali sale announcement. Check the Amazon app for what is live today.
Do prices fall after the festive sale ends?
It varies by product and seller. We found no reliable source that says prices usually fall or rise after a sale, so we do not claim either. Your own check of the last 30 and 90 days for that exact item is the only evidence that counts.
Is gold or jewellery cheaper during the Diwali sale?
We could not verify any store or sale pattern for gold, so we make no claim. Jewellery prices depend on the gold rate and making charges on the day. Compare the invoice price and the making charges at each jeweller before you decide.
What if the item sells out while I wait?
Then your fallback is the next-best listing, often at a higher price or a different seller. Treat thin stock as a reason to buy once the price passes your check. If the item is returnable, read the return terms first, since they limit your downside.
How do I check the last 30 days of a price?
Use the store's own price history where it exists. Amazon says it shows 30, 90 and 365-day views, with the longer view rolling out. Otherwise, use screenshots or an earlier order for the same variant and seller. See our guide on how far back to check.
Diwali sale ka wait karu ya abhi kharidu?
Agar price pichhle 30 din ke lowest ke paas hai, stock kam hai ya Diwali (8 November 2026) se pehle delivery chahiye, to abhi kharidiye. Warna wait kar sakte hain, par kisi ne later sale ka price publish nahi kiya. Bank offer ke baad ka total price compare karein.
